The Patient Assistance Transportation Program at The Rio Grande Cancer Foundation is the proud recipient of an $1,800.00 grant to provide transportation to cancer patients who must travel outside of El Paso for their treatment. Pictured here with the check presentation is Program Officer, Jutta Ramirez.
In 1991, in an effort to better promote volunteer service and provide much needed money to local charities, the employees of CAS, Inc. and its management organized a non-profit corporation known as CAS Cares, Inc. This organization was designed to support humanitarian needs in the local community through service and monetary donations to non-profit organizations.
CAS Cares, Inc. receives its funds through payroll deductions and direct contributions. The recipients of this funding are chosen on a quarterly basis. CAS Cares, Inc.'s goal is to increase awareness of such organizations within CAS and the community.
Every penny contributed to CAS Cares, Inc. helps local charities do such things as: provide comfort and support to the terminally ill and their families; support drug-free programs for kids; provide free medical care to those in our community without access to health insurance, make a homebound person warmer in the winter; provide shelter for an abused child or battered wife; give guidance and tutoring to young people; provide child care for single working parents; deliver meals to the elderly and poor, provide continuity in the lives of children in foster care, and many, many more very worthwhile services.
